EdgeTech Introduces
New High Frequency Option for the 4200-FS Dual Mode Side Scan System.
EdgeTech
will be introducing a new dual simultaneous 300/600 kHz option for
their existing 4200-FS Dual Mode Side Scan System at this year’s
Oceanology International show. The current 4200-FS System operates
dual simultaneous 120/410 kHz frequencies and has enjoyed great
success since its introduction in late 2004 with 65 systems currently
in operation. The 4200-FS Side Scan System will now be available
with either 120/410 kHz or 300/600 kHz dual frequencies.
The new high frequency
option will provide the user with superior imagery at ranges of
at least 230 meters per side on the low (300 kHz) frequency and
100 meters per side on the high (600 kHz) frequency. This system
is ideal for applications where high resolution imagery is required,
such as Mine Countermeasures (MCM) and artifact tracking.
The High Frequency 4200-FS
System will still provide the user with two software selectable
modes of operation for added versatility. In High Definition Mode
(HDM) the system operates conventional dual simultaneous 300/600
kHz frequencies. In High Speed Mode (HSM) the system operates in
Multipulse mode on either selected frequency at speeds of up to
10 knots while meeting the IHO and NOAA specifications for side
scan surveys. Real time selection of these two modes allows the
user to choose the one best suited to his task at hand.
Fugro Survey UK has recently placed an order for two of the EdgeTech
High Frequency 4200-FS Systems to be fitted onto their new Focus-2
ROTV systems. These systems will be used for acoustic pipeline inspection
in the North Sea. For more information visit Fugro’s website
at www.fugrosurvey.co.uk.
The new 4200-FS High Frequency Side Scan System can be seen at
stand number 427 at OI 2006. For more information on the system
please send an email to marine@edgetech.com.
EdgeTech manufactures a variety of marine products including side
scan systems, sub-bottom systems, combined side scan/sub-bottom
systems and modular imaging systems for deep towed, AUV, ROV and
other applications utilizing Full Spectrum ("chirp"),
multi-ping and synthetic aperture acquisition and processing techniques.
