Customer Service Engineer - Software Focus

Location: West Wareham, MA

Position: Full Time

Experience: Negotiable

A Customer Service Engineer with a software focus is being sought for EdgeTech’s West Wareham, Massachusetts facility.  This Customer Service Engineer position is full time.  The successful candidate will be someone who is well organized, detail oriented, technically proficient, possesses good communication skills (both written and verbal) and is proactive.  EdgeTech offers excellent benefits such as health, dental, 401k with match, company paid life insurance.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide functional and/or technical support for resolution of customer problems, incidents, issues, requests and queries while serving as the internal bridge between customer and development team and other support/product teams
  • Be proficient in EdgeTech’s Discover acquisition software in order to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues
  • Explain and/or recommend software solutions, interfaces, and/or EdgeTech’s software tools to customers or potential customers
  • Have strong product and applications knowledge and demonstrate this to existing and potential customers
  • Carry the 24/7 customer support phone as part of a rotation with other members of the Customer Service Group
  • Maintain an ongoing log of all customer complaints/wishes and provide feedback loop to Sales & Marketing
  • Respond to all day and night-time phone calls from customers within 1 hour; respond to all email requests within 24 hours and see all issues through to fruition until the customer is completely satisfied
  • Assist the Technical Writer with writing of new user manuals 

Qualifications:

  • A college degree with a technical background or relevant industry experience accepted in lieu of college degree
  • Excellent customer service skills mandatory
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; excellent telephone manner
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to learn software such as interfaces and software tools as well as learn about EdgeTech products and applications
  • Ability to handle software technical support issues and sensitive situations
  • Ability to Travel up to 10% of time

Embedded Real Time Systems Design Engineer

Location: Boca Raton, FL

Position: Full Time

Experience: 7+ Years

This is an exciting role in new product development working with a team of scientists and engineers creating the next generation sonars and systems for marine survey and military applications.  For nearly 50 years, EdgeTech has been supplying sonar solutions to our Customers worldwide.  This position will help us push the boundaries of sonar technology.

The Design Engineer (Embedded Real Time Systems) position is part of the Software Team within the company’s Product Development Group located at EdgeTech’s Boca Raton, Florida facility. This team of software developers and engineers is responsible for developing and maintaining the software used to power our sonar systems.

Embedded Real Time Systems Design Engineer Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Other:

Knowledge:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Proficient in C, C++, VHDL and assembly languages
  • Computer networks and distributed systems (TCP/IP & UDP).

Experience (7+ post-education years in a commercial setting) with:

  • Embedded software development and operating systems
  • DSP algorithm implementation in software and FPGAs
  • Hardware abstraction layer software drivers
  • Debugging and testing
  • Windows application development
  • High speed interfaces (e.g. SATA and USB)

Skills:

  • Problem solving
  • Laterally thinking as part of a team, or individually, to meet the needs of the project.   
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong engineering or science background - physics, mathematics and statistics.
  • Practical nature and an ability to deal positively with our Customers’ engineering and technical groups.

Embedded Real Time Systems Design Engineer Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to:

The Design Engineer (Embedded Real Time Systems) Responsibilities and Essential Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Involved in all stages of product development from initial design, technical specification and product development, through “in the field” testing and customer support. 
  • Modify existing company firmware by analyzing and identifying areas for improvement. 
  • Work closely with other product development engineers, and staff, such as project leads, sales, and customer service professionals.
  • Consult with customers and colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of the company’s sonar systems.
  • Participates in peer reviews, design reviews, testing process (through test review and analysis), test witnessing and certification of software.
  • Occasional field support of deployed systems is likely and a willingness to travel for short periods is required.

Sonar Systems & Hardware Design Engineer

This Sonar Systems & Hardware Design Engineer is an exciting role in new product development working with a team of scientists and engineers creating the next generation sonars and systems for marine survey and military applications.  For nearly 50 years, EdgeTech has been supplying sonar solutions to our Customers worldwide.  This position will help us push the boundaries of sonar technology.

The Sonar Systems & Hardware Design Engineer position is part of the Hardware Team within the company’s Product Development Group located at EdgeTech’s Boca Raton, Florida facility. This team of engineers is responsible for designing the components, hardware, subsystems and systems that are used in our sonar systems. A key job requirement of this job is experience in system level design where the Sonar Systems & Hardware Design Engineer has proven experience engineering the combination of hardware, firmware, and software into working systems that meet the product design requirements. As required, the Sonar Systems & Hardware Design Engineer will be called on to be the Lead Engineer on a project.

Sonar Systems & Hardware Design Engineer Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Other:

Knowledge:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Excellent working knowledge of mixed Analog and Digital designs.

Experience (7+ post-education years in a commercial setting) with:

  • Complex analog/digital/mix signal circuits design, simulation, development, prototyping and verifying utilizing a combination of hardware, firmware, and software
  • Designs utilizing devices such as CMOS/TTL logic, CPLDs, FPGAs, ADCs/DACs, DDS
  • Hands-on debugging and bench level work on mixed analog/digital circuitry
  • Biomedical device design experience (Not required but a plus)

Skills:

  • Low Noise receiver design
  • Ultrasonic Signal and power Amplifier design
  • Noise and signal interference debugging and mitigation techniques.
  • EMI suppression and mitigation.
  • Strong engineering or science background – physics and mathematics.
  • Systems engineering knowledge for system specification and design, design tradeoffs, and establishing system performance specifications
  • Ability to work independently and in groups
  • Mathematical modeling and sonar system performance prediction (Desired)

As the Sonar Systems & Hardware Engineer, you will be involved in all stages of product development from initial design, technical specification and product development, through “in the field” testing and Customer support. In this position, you will participate in innovative idea generation in our product development process, particularly as it applies to electronic hardware development. You will be actively involved in system development to assure our designs are technically sound and meet requirements.

The Sonar Systems & Hardware Design Engineer may modify existing company hardware designs by analyzing and identifying areas for improvement. This engineering position works closely with other product development engineers, and staff, including Project Leads, Sales & Marketing, and Customer Service professionals. You consult with Customers and colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of the company’s systems. You participate in peer reviews, design reviews, testing process (through test review and analysis), test witnessing and preparation of documentation.
